Access Bank Profit Rises to N667 Billion in 2026, Driven by Lower Loan Provisions

Access Holdings Plc has announced a profit before tax of N667.4 billion in the first nine months of 2026, an 8.3% increase over the N616.2 billion declared in the same period in 2025.
This is contained in the company’s Unaudited Interim Financial Statements filed at the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) Monday.
The slight profitability growth was supported by lower level of provisioning for bad loans (impairment charges) which dropped by over 73% from N350 billion in 2025 to about N93 billion in 2025. The company’s income after impairment charges grew by 32% from N908 billion to about N1.2 trillion within the period under review.
Income lines across the financial service industry had been under pressure in recent times against the background of dovish monetary policy stance of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The CBN had in September dropped the Monetary Policy Rate, the benchmark for money market pricing in the country from 26.5% to 23% in the wake of falling inflation rates.
Access Holdings also grew its net fee and commission income by over 12% from N476 billion to N576 billion.
Profit after tax stood at N474 billion, a 6% growth from the N447 billion declared in 2025.
